AKC Cites MGRC for Using "Tools and Tactics" to Promote Club

Tools and Tactics for Promoting Clubs

If you’re a breed club, consider highlighting a prominent owner of your breed and inviting them to become an Honorary Member of your club. The Maine Golden Retriever Club regularly recognizes Golden Retriever owners that have made a difference in the world. Previous recipients include former Defense Secretary and CIA Director Leon Panetta, owner of Bravo, and Captain Luis Carlos Montalvan, owner of service dog and ACE recipient, Tuesday.

...for promoting AKC events, activities and opportunities across the country. Recognizing and utilizing your members' particular expertise and capabilities to put your own "spin" on AKC's message points helps them go even further.

Kudos to Maine Golden Retriever Club (MGRC) creating a “Golden Head & Tail” Coin, which was unveiled at the club’s annual meeting last month.

“This is a memento that the club will use to express its appreciation to individuals who make contributions to the club and the breed. It is also a souvenir that MGRC members can own and utilize to express personal appreciation to folks who help them in the nurturing of the Golden Retriever breed,” said Charles L. Cragin, President of MGRC.

The coin was designed by noted Maine artist, Roger Williams, of Lovell, Maine.

The head of the coin displays the club’s affiliation with the American Kennel Club and the Golden Retriever Club of America while the tail expresses the club’s recognition of those who support Golden Retrievers.

The coins were distributed for the first time at MGRC’s Specialty AKC B Sanctioned Obedience Match in conjunction with the York County Kennel Club on November 24th. Every registrant received the coin as a commemorative souvenir of participation in the match.

Thanks to Charlie Cragin for sharing another one of MGRC’s great ideas!
