Nancy Seiden

Golden Retrievers have always been loved by my family. Starting with my parent’s/brother’s Golden Retriever Layla. Then twenty-six years ago, my husband and I adopted an 18 month old Golden Retriever, Tucker, from a friend. Our love for the breed intensified and we have had the pleasure to own seven Golden’s through the years who have all been members of our family.

My husband, Richard, and I reside in Wells with our current three Golden Retrievers: Briggs, Angie & Duncan ‘Marshmellow’.  I have the honor to volunteer with our three Golden’s who are also certified therapy dogs with Alliance of Therapy Dogs. I am also a newly appointed Tester/Observer for Therapy Dogs with “ATD”.   My Golden’s and I currently visit seven assisted living communities/nursing homes from Kittery to Scarborough; SMHC Hospital in Biddeford; UNH’s Paws & Relax Program; STRIVE; and various other organizations, facilities, schools and libraries. We also do volunteer Hospice Pet Therapy work for Northern Light Home Care & Hospice.

Prior to my early retirement in 2014, I was employed 18 years in Finance at Tom’s of Maine’s Corporate Office in Kennebunk. It was there that I realized how rewarding volunteer work is and along with my passion for Golden Retrievers, I was able to start sharing their love with a local assisted living community when they were all young puppies. W ith my experience in Finance as well as my love for the breed and my love for the Maine Golden Retriever Club, I am honored to be their Treasurer and look forward to the exciting year ahead.
