Prior to moving to Yarmouth, ME in 1998, Sandy attended the Maryland Institute College of Art and Virginia Tech. Sandy has been a stay-at-home mom, ran marathons, and has volunteered on Boards such as Maine Golden Retriever Club, York County Kennel Club, Pine Tree Golden Retriever Club, and the Maine Track Club in the capacity of President, Treasurer, Membership, Director, Webmaster, Trophy Chair, and nationally recognized as Editor of Best Newsletter 3 years in a row.  She is also a member of the Golden Retriever Club of America, Yankee Golden Retriever Club, Dog Tracking Club of Maine, Penobscot Hunting Retriever Club, and the Maine Retriever Trial Club.  Sandy has thoroughly enjoyed training, showing, competing, and breeding Goldens under the kennel name of Royal River Retrievers since 2010, recently earning AKC Breeder of Merit. She lives with her husband, two teens, four Goldens, three cats, and three gerbils.  She also has two grown children and grandchild living in OR and SC.
